Keep Running

Running is therapy

I ran the Helvetia Half Marathon in Hillsboro, OR on 6/8/13.  I was hoping for a new PR but it wasn’t my race for that.  My finishing time was 2:26:12.  The only reason my time was that decent was due to The Pilot aka “Coach’.  I rounded one of the last corners and there he was waiting for me.  He ran with me to the stadium.  Otherwise I think I would have finished in the 2:30’s.  For that, I am beyond appreciative.  My sweet friend also surprised me at the finish line with a rose!  I felt incredibly supported and was beyond grateful for that.  And look, I was still smiling at the end :)

#26 on the list is starting to pan out.  I’m getting excited about it as one of my favorite Attendings approached me to help on this project.  Her opening line was ‘We have to keep this quiet.  It’s top secret for now.’  She had me hook, line and sinker.  I’ll likely be listed as second author on the paper.  Woot!

30 by the end of 30 list

I had a great birthday celebration.  My friends from Australia were in town to help me celebrate and my sister baked me three cakes.  The top photos are my breakfast and dinner cakes.  The following weekend I took an epic bday trip to the big island of Hawaii with The Pilot.  The middle photo is on the summit of Mauna Loa (13,678’).  The bottom photos are of all the beaches we visited.  Hapuna beach is the white sand beach.  Kehana is the black sand beach.  And last, is the Green Sand beach.

Todays run was a struggle. The kind where it takes massive effort to keep going, where you feel that you’re running into the wind no matter which direction you face. Was hoping for a 10:30 min average, unfortunately I was slower then that. Still a run in better then no run

Just registered.  Now it’s real.  13.1 miles on June 8th.  It’s going to get here soon.  But I believe I will be ready.  7 miles planned for tomorrow.

Keep up your awesome, Boston.

Brilliant.  Love him.  So true!

I’d love to get to a 10 minute mile. Otherwise it was a great run, no rain and a nice cool temp. Just need to remember to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Goal

To make today better then yesterday.  To remember the good.  To be proud of what I do and accomplish.
